Disneyland 2011 Halloween Trip Report

Day 3

Monday, October 31th

This morning we stared off in the Magic Kingdom.  We had a tasty breakfast snack at the Blue Ribbon Bakery on main Street.  We all got brave enough to ride Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.  For Halloween Disneyland makes the roller coaster, Space mountain, into a creepy Halloween ghost ride.  I must admit that the ghosts are a little but fearsome and something that you don't see in Disney World during Halloween.  Riding this ride once was enough for us.

We got to meet Jack Skellington & Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas movie.  They were signing autographs just outside of the Haunted Mansion ride.  It was fun to meet these characters that you don't see in Disney World.

After touring the Magic Kingdom park for a while we decided to head to California Adventure to take advantage of the free photo opportunity offered for Disney Visa card holders.  Pluto was the one making an appearance so we took our photo with him & got his autograph.  Then we were allowed one free 5x7 print of this photo with the Disney Visa card offer.  We rode Soarin' with no wait at all & ate lunch next door at the Taste Pilot's Grill.

After enjoying some of the attractions in California Adventure we walked back to the hotel in the late afternoon for a rest before Mickey's Trick or Treat Party tonight for Halloween.  As hard as we tried nobody really slept and soon enough it was time to don our Halloween apparel and head back to the magic Kingdom for the Halloween festivities.

Halloween in Disneyland was nothing short of amazing.  There is so much to do & see that there is no way to do it all.  When we arrived we handed them the tickets we had purchased for the party & were given bracelets that let them know we were part of the party.  We were given small trick-or-treat bags that weren't nearly large enough for the haul we aimed to get.  So we headed into one of the shops on Main Street & purchased a larger, reusable shopping bag.  Following our kids' lead we chose to focus on Trick-or-Treating for candy.  Their #1 goal was to get as much candy as they could carry.  The Halloween atmosphere alone was amazing & worth the time spent wandering around & locating the trick-or-treat stations and seeing all of the amazing Halloween decor.

Meeting the Storm Troopers outside of Star Tours

When our bags got to heavy to carry and we got hungry we stopped on the curb along the parade route & waited with our good spot to watch the parade.  We got corn dogs from the Little Red Wagon for dinner & helped ourselves to the candy in our bags.  There was a scarecrow on a post behind us that was entertaining the crowd & we had fun joking with him while waiting.  The parade was fun to watch but not nearly long enough & by the time it was over our youngest was almost asleep.  So we headed back to the hotel with our Halloween haul.  The little guy was practically sleep walking to dad had to carry him most of the way.

When we got back to our room it was time to survey our candy.
